Weekly Oil Painting Class
Learn how to paint with an expert in a relaxed atmosphere. Beginners will start with the basics of mixing color, application of paint and learning to see and interpret their chosen subject matter. Students, who have more experience, can work more independently, obtaining helpful suggestions along the way. Students will be taught how to paint with a palette knife, avoiding the need of toxic mediums and messy clean-up. Brushes are allowed but no turpentine, please. Mature teens allowed. Materials not included.

When: Wednesdays, 12:45 to 3:15 pm, six week sessions beginning Oct 9 to Nov 20 (no class Oct 16) 1 and Jan 15 to Feb 19, 2025
Price: $225 per 6 weeks ($200 for returning students) $40 per class ($35 for returning students)
Cancellation Policy: No refund or credit will be issued for cancellations occurring within the final week prior to and after the starting date of a course. Classes are not transferable between students. To be able to make-up a class, please make sure to contact the instructor that you need to miss a class.
Oil Painting Mini Workshops

This class is designed for those wanting to get acquainted with oils or who want to learn about painting with a palette knife. In this workshop, students will learn how to: work with a palette knife, mix color both on the palette and on the canvas by painting a simple subject along with me. Students will learn to infuse their paintings with light and life! Whether you work outdoors or indoors, understanding how color is affected by light is key to achieving drama in your paintings and avoiding muddy messes. Students who wish to have time to work independently are also welcome.

Rhonda Egan will be demonstrating in oil, painting with a palette knife. Clean up is easier, which is a benefit while traveling. Using the palette knife also helps to keep the painting fresh and unmuddied. Plein air painting forces the artist to simplify and get to the essence. With changing light, the artist must make quick decisions to capture the moment. It is exhilarating, demanding and will help you move to a new level in your painting.
